Murray Fortunoff

Murray Fortunoff

December 9, 1930 – June 6, 2014

Adored Husband, Father and Poppy.

A man of eager courage, Murray famously joined the U.S. Marines at just 16 years old. His military ambitions were temporarily halted when his mother arrived at the base before deployment… with his original birth certificate. He was later drafted at 18 and served in Korea; receiving the Korean Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Murray returned to his wife, Lenore, and together built a beautiful life defined by his family: three children, three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the owner of Fortunoff Housewares in the Bronx and loved tennis, woodworking, and drumming military rolls on the kitchen table.
